STOP, LOOK AND THINK #11

Dear Reader,

This is the eleventh blog in a series written to offer another way to experience art. Try to give yourself several minutes to do this activity. One of my paintings is below, followed by a set of instructions.

1. STOP, LOOK AND THINK before you scroll down to each section. There are no right or wrong responses.

2. Here are a few facts about my artwork: Title: “Do a little dance” – Size: 22” by 18” -Medium: mixed (art tissue, acrylic, Prismatic markers) - Created in 2021. This may or may not verify or affect your first response. Now that you have some added information, compare your thoughts and feelings to your first response (image only). Is there anything about the painting and title that clicks with your perceptions? Did you notice more things knowing my title?

3. Here’s the story: there is no story. “Do a little dance” was made from the joy of handling art materials. Period. That is not to say there weren’t emotions driving me. I felt pure happiness, mixed with a soupçon of frustration when stuck in a passage and needed to figure out what to do. My September 2019 blog was about beginning experiments with art tissue layered over my older paintings. That is almost two years of playing with art tissue without tiring of its effects. My title is a line from KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight.” It just seemed right.
